By now, most online retailers have realized the value behind having a Blog.
The content driven, keyword richness, linking platform, and traffic generating power behind a Blog can’t be overlooked in today’s online retail industry.
But be careful not to shoot yourself in the foot by having a complete different feel in your Blog than in your Online Store. Having a perfectly integrated Blog can boost your conversion rates (when done properly).
Take a look at these examples bellow showing complete integration between Online Store and Blog:
DecalMyWall.com and Blog.DecalMyWall.com
MenAndBeyond.com and Blog.MenAndBeyond.com
GothicLolitaWigs.com and Blog.GothicLolitaWigs.com
A few things to consider when integrating your Blog and your Online Store:
- Use a custom subdomain to match your Store’s URL.
- Match your store’s Favicon.
- Match Header and Footer.
- Match overall layout & design (2 columns, 3 columns, width, fonts, etc)
- Integrate your Search Box to display product results.
- Integrate product feeds such as newly added products.
- Integrate Social networks.
- Integrate Live Chat services.
- Optimize for SEO (use nofollow tags when appropriate).
SAVE ALMOST 60% on QUICKBOOKS PRO + 1 YEAR OF PAYROLL SERVICES!
That’s $276 USD less than regular price!
YES, this has to be the hottest buy for any online business startup out there!
Just this past Wednesday we got the absolute best deal for a client who needed to purchase book keeping software.
Many of you have heard of QuickBooks. QuickBooks can easily integrate with most eCommerce platforms and help you keep your accounts receivable and payable in line.
We called Intuit directly (the makers of QuickBooks) to get some quotes and learn more about the different versions (Pro vs Premier vs Enterprise). We decided QuickBooks Pro was the right version for our client. She also needed Payroll integration which is an add-on service to QuickBooks.
Here is the price breakdown dealing directly with QuickBooks:
- QuickBooks Pro $$185/user
- Payroll Integration $295/year
Total Cost BEFORE Savings = $480 USD
A bit steep for a startup. We did more research en ended up going to Sam’s Club (yes, Sam’s Club) and we found an excellent bundle of QuickBooks Pro + Payroll Subscription (1 year subscription) for $259. “What a great deal!” we thought. We coulnd’t be more surprised when we went to checkout and the final prize was… $204 USD! That’s right; even LESS than we expected. We questioned the cashier and he said the price was correct, even when there were no “Sale” tags or anything attached to it. So we departed with a $204 purchase that could have cost us $480 if we hadn’t done some research.
Total Cost AFTER Savings = $204 USD
We strongly encourage any online business looking to purchase QuickBooks to hurry to your local Sam’s Club store and pick a copy of QuickBooks Pro + 1 Year Subscription to Payroll Services for only $204 USD.
Client couldn’t be happier of course, and once again… we were delighted to save money to our client and help her online startup.
The term “Stay-at-Home” mom or dad is usually associated with a person who takes good care of the house and children but, more often that not, don’t contribute to the household income. Well… not any more!
Thousands of Stay-at-Home women and men are making millions of dollars each year by managing small and medium size online stores right from home! While it may be difficult to take phone calls while the kids are playing around, you may very well offer live chat support to your customers.

Testing Your Online Store on Different Browsers
Posted by Trepoly in eCommerce,mCommerce | December 21, 2011Testing your eCommerce website on ALL major browsers is absolutely necessary before launching.
Several times we have come across online stores that display poorly when using Internet Explorer while they display properly on Firefox. This is due to lousy development skills or lack of interest from the designer.
At Trepoly, we make sure every store we develop can display AND perform properly on all major browsers. We may design an online store with a specific target browser or operating system but always make sure it can be viewed and used on other browsers and operating systems.
Things to keep in mind when running a cross-check browser compatibility:
- Overall layout
- Font size
- Hover buttons and interactivity
- Animations
- Link behavior
- Scroll and swipe actions
Your online store could even break in between same browser versions! So make sure you hire a competent eCommerce Design Company.
Why do I need a Payment Gateway?
A Payment Gateway is the software infrastructure that runs online transactions between financial institutions. Think of it as the “person” that requests the money from your customer’s bank account and collects it for you. Your Payment Gateway then needs to transfer the funds into your Merchant Account to secure the transaction.
Payment Gateways generally carry a transaction fee which can be around 3% per transaction.
MONEY SAVING TIP: Talk to your bank about preferred Payment Gateways as they may have a partnership with specific Payment Gateways and may save you money by bundling your Payment Gateway and your Merchant Account for a lower transaction fee.

Why do I need a Merchant Account?
A Merchant Account is a bank account for online businesses.
If you are looking to open an online store you will need to go visit your bank and request to open a Merchant Account. This bank account is where money will be deposited after each transaction takes place in your online store. Merchant Accounts generally have a transaction fee associated with them. Anywhere between 1.5% and 3.5% is a good rate. Your Merchant Account then needs to be integrated with your Payment Gateway.
MONEY SAVING TIP: Ask your banker about preferred Payment Gateways when inquiring about your Merchant Account. Some banks can bundle the Payment Gateway service with your Merchant Account and consolidate service fees to save you money. Instead of paying 3% for Payment Gateway + 3% for Merchant Account, they may be able to charge you only HALF when you use one of their preferred partners.
